Noting the fact that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is stronger and more active in agriculture is very important for Turkey; H. E. Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock stated "We provide any kind of support in the field of agriculture and will continue to".
On the occasion of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Technical, Scientific and Economic Cooperation in the field of Agriculture between Turkey and the TRNC, a ceremony was held in the Meeting Hall of the Ministry. The Minister Fakıbaba and Erkut Şahali, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the TRNC signed the MoU.
In his speech, the Minister Fakıbaba expressed his pleasure to host the esteemed Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the TRNC, Foster land for Turkey.
Underlining the fact that the TRNC is stronger and more active in agriculture is very important for Turkey; the Minister Fakıbaba noted "We, as the Ministers of Agriculture, discussed the details of the tasks we will carry out together. We regard the Foster land TRNC as part of our country. So far, we have achieved many projects and have cooperated with the TRNC. We provide any kind of support in the field of agriculture and will continue to. With the agreement we are about to sign, our cooperation in agriculture will gain further strength."
The Minister Fakıbaba expressed his desire for the MoU to be beneficial for both countries.
Mentioning that the relations between two countries will move to an upper level with the agreement signed, the Minister Şahali noted "Agriculture is a field of production to be addressed scientifically. Turkey has made much progress in this direction. It is very important for us to make use of the experiences of Turkey".
With the MoU signed to create appropriate conditions for the improvement of economic and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development; agreement has been reached on a range of fields to make cooperation, namely; agriculture, plant production, plant protection, animal husbandry, animal health, fisheries, irrigation and rural development.
