The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli paid a visit to the Kabalı Orchard in Kadışehri district of Yozgat city, which is one of the greatest orchards of Turkey and stated "This is a brilliant model and means a great revenue for the people living under these conditions in Kabalı Village. This means a significant source of welfare. I think this is important. We need to multiply this model and similar ones.
Visiting the orchard formed with consolidation of the villagers' lands, Pakdemirli received information from Yozgat Governor Kemal Yurtnaç and other officials.
Making a statement for the press afterwards, Pakdemirli expressed that they are here to see a very brilliant pilot model in Kabalı village.
Reminding that 5 thousand 500 decares of land has been consolidated in Kabalı village Pakdemirli expressed that "We see here that; the villagers were receiving a very low income from these lands before. Now they are getting a high income. Of course this is relative. They are earning about 250-300 liras per decare. Rather than planting wheat and barley on these lands which they were renting each 10 decare for a value of a pack of flour, now they are earning a good income by transferring all their rights to a company. By working for the company in their village and also by preventing migration, they are presenting a very good example. "
Pakdemirli expressed that this work needs to be taken as an example and this model should be developed.
Pakdemirli also stated that the Ministry shall work on how to support such models and continued as follows:
"Our ministry already knows this place, and I also wanted to see it myself. The ministry shall provide every support to pave the way for this and such projects. We will have a study concerning the subsidies in the following days. While making this study, we will be considering and planning what we can do and how we can provide support for these big, merged enterprises which are coming and working together. The villages must be prevented from migration in sociological terms as well. This is a good model indeed. I have seen the people working here from the same household. This means a great revenue for the people living under these conditions in Kabalı Village and also means a significant source of welfare. I think this is important. We need to multiply this model and similar ones. "
