It has been an occasion of pride for our country to receive the honor award organized for the first time in the history by CIMMYT in which many scientist conduct activities around the world.
CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) which has been founded in 1966 and has been supported by World Bank, FAO, UNDP, IFAD, OPEC, UNEP and other international organizations and 58 countries, is one of the leading agricultural R&D organizations in the world. CIMMYT, headquartered in Mexico, is an important center for the future of world in terms of food by organizing research and training programs on wheat and maize around the world.
Turkey has been among the partners of this important center since 1969. General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies has been supporting the programs conducted by CIMMYT by means of research institutes within its structure and has been making a significant contribution to world's gene pool by ensuring the material and information exchange.
CIMMYT organized "Field Days on World Wheat Program" on 12-19 March, 2016 in Mexico for 50th anniversary of its foundation. Within the scope of this organization, an honor award was presented to Dr. Mehmet Nazım DİNÇER who has been making great effort in the studies conducted every year, conveying the wheat varieties developed as a result of regional studies to the farmers accordingly contributing to World Food Security and Directorate of Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute in which these studies are conducted. Honor award was presented by Dr. Hans J. Braun, World Wheat Director in CIMMYT.
