Production of fur animal is type of an animal breeding for producing fur. This animal breeding sector that seems to disturb the natural balance has an important function in protection of natural balance especially protection of natural animal population. Due to inability to prevent demand of wearing or using fur, fur is made of skins of hunted animals in order to meet fur demand. Since furs with bullet hole are of poor quality, use of trap or insecticide is recommended for hunting. As known, animals other than fur animals have the same chance to be hunted by these means of hunting. Therefore, not only the natural balance in terms of animals has been disturbed but also poor quality furs of animals that cannot eat properly in the natural habitat have been placed on the market.
Fur farming, meaning to keep animals for their furs, just like keeping animals for their meat, to feed them properly in proper barns in a controlled and limited way in accordance with the demand, is a type of animal breeding that has to be developed in order to protect fur animals and natural balance, to prevent environment pollution and to promote marketing products of high quality. With this view, production of chinchilla, rabbit, mink, fox and Karagül sheep is emphasized by taking economy of country, climate and natural conditions and also relation between demand and supply into consideration.
